THE JAY & KAY PLAN GOING FORWARD FOR BETTER TIMES AHEAD (18/6/20)

Dear friends,

I trust this letter finds you in good health and spirit.

There seems to be some light approaching at the end of a very long tunnel and we now need to focus on the future rather than looking back at what has been an unbelievable period in all of our lives.

First and foremost, please allow us to thank you all for being very patient and for your understanding during this “unprecedented event” in our lifetime. We have received some very touching messages and heartfelt, kind wishes from our loyal travelling friends. With all our staff furloughed, it has been a very difficult period cancelling, re-scheduling, transferring and re-funding.

Secondly, our sincere condolences and thoughts go out to anyone who has been affected by this horrible virus. It has truly been an awful time for so many families.

It is now just over four weeks since our Prime Minister set out his route map for the future which possibly resembled more of a tatty old A-Z with half the pages ripped out. If all goes according to the Governments plan, the hospitality sector should re-open on or around 4th July. For our great Country to survive and thrive once more, the tourism industry and its associated businesses need your support, more than ever before. This ethos also applies to our very own company.

We, at Jay & Kay, hereby propose our version of a route map with a view to resuming our Day excursion & Holiday/Short Break programme. This route map of ours is intended to provide clarity of our intentions going forward. However please understand that all of this obviously does depend on everything else in society heading the right way over the next few weeks assuming positive progress against this ghastly virus continues.

You will hopefully remember just how clean our coaches were before this virus came into our lives. Well now they will be even cleaner as we take great care and pride in our coaches and have recently enhanced our extreme cleaning regime. We would not do anything to put our lovely friends or our loyal staff at risk of catching this virus. We will only act as and when we are allowed to do so, in a manner that we are allowed to and providing the conditions are right to do so.

To ensure your safety we have: • ordered air purifying systems to add to the air conditioning units which prevent unpleasant odours and neutralises micro-organisms, germs and allergenic pollen.

  • Provide Hand sanitisers at each entrance/exit which we require customers to use as they board and exit the vehicle. These have already been in place for the last 2 years.
  • Purchased a fogging machine which sanitises and deodorises vehicles when combined with special agents that attack and destroy all germs, bacteria, viruses and spores in its path.
  • Purchased sufficient supplies of specialist cleaning chemicals that are effective against Coronavirus.
  • Purchased non-contact thermometers for each coach to facilitate random checks on drivers’ and passengers’ forehead temperatures.
  • Introduced an enhanced cleaning regime for all our vehicles paying special attention to high frequency touch points.

So, be rest assured, Jay & Kay have implemented currently the most up to date methods to keep you and our staff safe.

WE INTEND TO OPEN OUR SHOP MONDAY 6TH JULY, IF ALLOWED TO BY THE GOVERNMENT.

We are in the process of producing a 4 page mini brochure of next year’s holidays, which should be with all our customers before we re-open, this will be an at a glance list of holidays with dates and prices. The itineraries will not be shown, but, as usual, we will have all of our great itineraries in the main brochure due out in October.

Also, we will have a list of day excursions we will offer from mid/late July, starting off with local area trips.

Myself, Jackie and Lisa will be in the shop, the first week will be PHONE CALLS ONLY, and by way of a huge thank you, restricted to those who have credit notes, giving you first choice of next year’s holidays, we honestly cannot thank you enough for really helping us out through this torrid time.

FROM MONDAY 13TH JULY, THE SHOP WILL BE OPEN TO ALL FOR FACE TO FACE BOOKINGS ALONG WITH PHONE BOOKINGS.

ONCE AGAIN, WE THANK ALL OUR FRIENDS FOR THEIR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING,

AND WISH THAT YOU STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY.

REMEMBER THE SLOGAN, GET AWAY WITH JAY & KAY

WE ARE ON OUR WAY BACK, LET’S DO IT!

Coronavirus – Latest updates for our customers

Update – 17th March 2020 | 09:00

The press conference by the Prime Minister, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Scientific Officer on Monday 16th March 2020 provided a range of public health advice, including time periods for self isolation for people showing symptoms (including their family members), social gatherings, home working and travel.

Advice regarding non-essential travel, however remains uncertain and unspecific. As such, we are awaiting further official guidance from Government departments, the Chief Medical Officer, the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) and the Coach Tourism Association (CTA).

In the meantime, we will continue to serve you our loyal customers at those hotels that remain open. The majority of our day trips are also continuing to operate. As you would expect, we are monitoring the situation constantly and carefully.

The wellbeing and safety of our customers and staff is of paramount importance and all of our hotels, venues and coaches continue to strictly adhere to the guidelines of Public Health England, Scotland and Wales.

Our shop is experiencing unprecedented levels of enquiries and our advisors are unable to give any further advice on future travel until Government advice is updated. We therefore ask of customers booked for future travel to be patient during these times so that we can prioritise enquiries from current customers.

In these unprecedented times we thank all our loyal friends and customers for their support, patience and loyalty.

  • All UK holidays are operating as normal
  • All European holidays departing up until 30th April are no longer operating.
  • For European holidays in May and thereafter,  a decision will be made as soon as we have clarification on the situation, we will call all affected customers in departure date order

Here at Jay & Kay Coach Tours, the safety and health of our customers, friends and staff is always at the forefront of everything we do. As a result, we are monitoring the situation regarding Coronavirus (also known as COVID-19) very closely. We will always take our lead from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO), rather than speculative press stories.
