The historic twin towns of East and West Looe are located in South East Cornwall and offer everything from beautiful sandy beaches, accessible walking routes, fishing trips, unique boutiques, restaurants and bars. Still very much a working fishing port, it is worth visiting the harbour quay to watch the fishing boats coming in to unload their catches. The arrival of the small fishing fleet is a busy and colourful scene. Local fish can be found on the menus of many local restaurants. Level streets snake their way on to the beach near the town’s banjo shaped pier passing a mix of shops, many of which are located in buildings dating from the 16th & 17th centuries. This is the best place to watch the returning fishing trawlers at high tide.
The Portbyhan Hotel
The Portbyhan Hotel is located in an unrivalled position on the quayside overlooking the working fishing harbour and the River Looe. All bedrooms are en-suite including hairdryer, TV and tea & coffee making facilities. The majority of the rooms have front or lateral views of the picturesque harbour town.
