The Severn Valley is a beautiful area, with rolling wooded hillside rising above the flood plains of the River Severn.  Running for approximately 16 miles, starting at Bridgnorth Shropshire and running south to Ribbesford, a few miles south of Bewdley, Worcester in the Wyre Forest.  Based in the lovely Cathedral City of Worcester at the Fownes Hotel, supported by a fantastic itinerary with a scenic ride on a nostalgic steam train, two relaxing cruises on the Severn and scenic drives to picturesque towns, a wonderful holiday awaits.

Formerly a Victorian glove factory, the hotel is superbly located by the Birmingham canal, close to the magnificent cathedral, with lots of attractions close by.  The Fownes Hotel offers very comfortable, stylish, en-suite, spacious rooms which all come with a flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, free WiFi and a hairdryer.Outside space includes a sun deck, terrace and gardens.  The hotel is particularly known for its friendly staff and sumptuous cuisine.

Itinerary:

Day 1:- We travel to our hotel in Worcester, with a comfort stop en-route, and a visit to Stratford upon Avon.

Day 2:- After breakfast we make the short trip to Kidderminster, where we board a steam train for the scenic journey to Bridgnorth.  After time in this lovely town, we head to Shrewsbury for a relaxing cruise on the River Severn before returning to our hotel.

Day 3:- Today we journey through the Malvern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to the market town of Ledbury, known for its many stunning timber framed buildings.  From here we visit Tewkesbury, located on the banks of the River Severn, from where we take a another lovely cruise to Upton on Severn.

Day 4:-  This morning our first call is at Elgar’s birthplace museum & visitor centre.  We leave here and again take a scenic route to another lovely town on the Severn, Stourport.

Day 5:- Sadly after breakfast, we make our way home, with comfort stops en-route.
