CHARTWELL HOUSE & GARDENS AND RIVERHILL HIMALAYAN GARDENS

Step into the cherished home of Sir Winston Churchill, one of Britain’s most iconic leaders. Chartwell was Churchill’s family residence for over 40 years, and offers a glimpse into his personal life above and beyond politics. The house is presented as it was in the 1930’s, when Churchill spent most of his time here with his beloved wife Clementine and their four children. Each room tells a story, filled with treasures and memories that reflect his legacy. A self guided tour includes many rooms throughout the property and the Art Studio, home to the largest single collection of Churchill’s paintings, housing many canvasses, most unframed and in various stages of completion. Discover the stunning hillside gardens and enjoy sweeping views of the Kent countryside. Please note that there is substantial walking, steps, uneven and sloping paths and that the property is situated on a hillside and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. Following our visit to Chartwell, we make the short journey to Riverhill Himalayan Gardens. Explore the walled garden where the borders are awash with giant, frothy peonies in milky whites and pinks interspersed with the distinctive round heads of the purple alliums. Highly recommended.
