Travel to Windsor and join our Blue Badge guide for a tour of the magnificent Castle. There will be time to buy refreshments beneath the castle walls before stepping inside the late Queen’s favourite residence. During the winter, there are fewer tourists which enables us to visit the Semi State apartments. You will also visit St George’s Chapel where you will see the resting place of HM Queen Elizabeth II. St George’s Chapel has been the scene of so many Royal family and ceremonial events. It is the place of worship at the Castle, both a Royal Peculiar and the Chapel of the Order of the Garter. There are eleven monarchs buried in the chapel including Queen Elizabeth II. The State Apartments are hung with paintings from the Royal Collection – Rembrant, Rubens, Canaletto and Gainsborough. George IV’s private apartments known as the semi-state rooms are also open for your visit. They are among the most richly decorated interiors in the Castle. Whilst inside the Castle, the Blue badge guide will be on hand to answer any of your questions. After lunch (not included) we board the coach for an exhilarating look at the Royal landscape including views of the castle from the Long Walk. We round off a memorable day with a visit to the Windsor Farm Shop where HM King Charles sells produce from the Royal farms. Take home a treat or two embossed with the Royal crest and treat yourself to tea and cake in the cafe before heading home.
