Somerset – Bridgwater
Bridgwater is a delightful, historic market town, located on the river Parrett in Somerset. Formerly a port until the river silted up, Bridgwater still retains its original quays. The town is linked with Taunton via the Bridgwater and Taunton canal, originally built for trade purposes, now long gone, the canal is great for pleasant walks and pleasure craft. There are many historic buildings and museums, including one dedicated to Admiral Robert Blake, Bridgwater’s most famous son. The town also offers plenty of shops, cafes and bars to keep you occupied. The town, a pleasant place to visit, boasts some elegant streets and well-preserved buildings and is ideally located allowing easy access to many of Somerset’s main resorts and attractions.
