West Yorkshire – Ilkley
This most beautiful of towns lies in the Wharfedale Valley, beneath the imposing Ilkley Moor, looked over by the famous Cow and Calf rocks. The town gained its considerable wealth in Victorian times, when visitors flocked to the town to bathe in its pure spa waters. Ilkley has a recently refurbished Lido, one of the very few left in the UK. The town now has a distinct Victorian architecture feel, with wide avenues and some lovely buildings. The town boasts a plethora of excellent tea rooms, including the famous Bettys Cafe and Tea Rooms, restaurants, pubs and fine shopping. A fabulous location for visiting the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and beyond.
