Day excursions

Audley End House and Gardens is the best place in England to discover how a great house worked in the past. You can explore the great hall, state rooms and intimate private apartments, all decorated with fine furniture and works of art. The grounds at Audley End were designed by Capability Brown, so there’s acres of beautiful, award winning parkland to explore too.

We begin our day with a visit to Tonbridge Castle where an interesting audio tour awaits. Unravel a story of kings and archbishops, tyrants and heroes, murderers and mercenaries who have helped write 900 years of English history. On this ancient site and inside these weathered stone walls history comes alive for young and old. Following our visit we make the short trip to The Black Horse in Pembury for a delightful 2 course lunch. Following lunch, we travel onto Tunbridge Wells for a short while before returning home. Please note that access to the castle is via a steep hill and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

We head to Hever Castle for Supercar Sunday, a supercar event organised by Challenge the Road. A whole host of stunning cars with their own individual stories will be on display in the gardens with the Castle as a stunning backdrop. There is the chance to drive a super car in a simulator (small charge applies) and a chance to admire classic cars as well. Also included in the day is a self guided tour of the castle, which is steeped in history. Please note there may be loud engine noises throughout the day and some attractions are subject to alteration at short notice.

With a comfort stop en-route, we arrive in Aylesham where we take the narrow gauge steam train for an 18 mile journey through the Bure Valley to Wroxham. After arriving in Wroxham, we have time here to enjoy this beautiful village with the opportunity for a spot of lunch (not included). Then we travel onto Horning where we board the superb Mississippi river boat, The Southern Comfort, for a wonderful 1½ hour cruise on the Norfolk Broads.

Join us as we travel to the fantastic Woburn Safari Park. We will begin the adventure with a Road Safari drive through sweeping parkland reserves, where you’ll see wonderful wild animals with the freedom to roam in acres and acres of beautiful countryside. The route finishes up in the Foot Safari where you can walk around and visit smaller mammals and watch fascinating keeper talks and demonstrations.
